Erick holds a Bachelor in Computer Engineer and a Master's in Business Administration both from ITAM University in Mexico. He has worked and lived in Mexico, Singapore, and now in the U.S.A.
Professional Career:
Since 2018, Erick has been immersed in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security organization. He hired and led regional teams focused on Security and Compliance across the Asia-Pacific and Latin America. His team drove inventive and scalable cloud computing ventures, upholding security, privacy, and compliance as paramount priorities.
At present, Erick leads a worldwide team of Global Security and Compliance subject matter experts that partners with Standard Development Organizations, National Cyber Security Authorities and Sectorial Regulators: Energy, Healthcare, Financial Services and Telco among other regulated industries.
From 2007 to 2017, he served at Microsoft as a CTO in Mexico and subsequently in Asia- Pacific. His contributions were pivotal in orchestrating the digital evolution of government sectors in these regions.
Professional Activities:
Erick’s advisory roles have encompassed governmental spheres: In 2005, he advised the Mexican Federal Government on the formulation of digital signature legislation. During 2006, Erick’s advisory prowess extended to the Government of the State of Zacatecas, where he orchestrated the coordination of the state’s digital agenda, ushering in technological progress for the region.
Erick’s entrepreneurial journey spans several significant ventures, including the founding of Grupo Integra from 1991 to 2001—a prominent systems integrator in the Mexican education sector. In 2001, he played a role in establishing Adavox, focusing on innovative low-cost digital hearing aid patents. Subsequently, from 2001 to 2005, his leadership shaped SeguriData into a pioneering force for digital signature applications, leaving a lasting impact on Mexico and Latin America.
Volunteering Activities:
Erick is a Member of the Board at Fundación Cancer de Mama AC (FUCAM) Mexico, since 2021. He was President of South-Central Region for the ICT Chamber Mexico (CANIETI) from 2010 to 2013. Erick has been an active volunteer in non-profit internet safety organizations, such as Navega Protegido (2007-2012) and #LikeInteligente (since 2021) – supporting awareness actions to protect high-risk users (children, youth, senior citizens) wherever they go online.
Awards: Erick received a Professional Career Excellence Award from ITAM in 2007 (Premio Carrera al Universo). He was recognized as one of “Asia’s Greatest CTO 2015-16” by Asia One.
