Julius is a seasoned Management Systems (MS) Lead auditor & Implementation consultant with more than 25 years experience in food & beverages, management consulting, and testing, inspection and certification (TIC) industries. He is also passionate about using technology to solve business challenges and improve lives.
A BSc (Honours) degree holder from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology, he also holds strong professional training background in Food safety, Social responsibility, ARSO Conformity Assessment Programme (ACAP) standards, ISO MS Standards and Lead Auditor Courses including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22001, ISO 17065, ISO 17067, CACO ACAP 1-1, ACAP 1-2, ACAP 1-3 from various organizations, including AFRAC, KENAS, ISO, COLEAD, MQA, ISO CIEH, CCFRA, and University of Greenwich, UK.
Professional Career:
Julius is Currently a MS Implementation consultant at Quality Centre Ltd, a management consulting firm, offering training, consulting and auditing. He is also a MS Lead Auditor (sub-contractor) with MSECB Inc, where he conducts on-site and remote certification audits.
An ex-SGS MS Lead Auditor, he has been fortunate to work in ISO MS audit roles where he has performed certification audits to 100s of global brands in various industry sectors including agriculture, chemicals, education, food & beverages, healthcare, information technology, nonprofits, oil & gas, packaging, pharmaceuticals, public administration, and transport.
He started his career in quality profession when he joined Nestle as a Quality Control Microbiologist, where he was reponsible for performing microbial analysis of company’s products and wáter to test for fitness human consumption. Thereafter he worked with various companies including TropicalHeat Group and Bureau Veritas Group.
Professional Activities:
As the Founder and Managing Partner with Quality Centre Ltd, Julius has conducted numerous trainings and consulted with various international, inter-governmental organizations and NGOs in various techical assistance, research and consultancy projects. This includes the African Organisation for Standardization (ARSO) project on ‘’Consultancy to undertake a comprehensive review of the scopes of the Eco Mark Africa (EMA) scheme with similar scopes of other schemes with a view to benchmarking with them’’ and ‘’consultancy to undertake the revision of the African conformity assessment programme documents. ’’
He has also consulted with ISO (www.org) on the Uptake of ISO 26000 Social Responsibility in the East Africa project and COLEAD (www.colead.link) on technical assistance in ‘’Support to strengthen the competitiveness of the agri-food sector (with an emphasis on ACP horticultural sector) and compliance with the regulatory and private requirements of national, regional and international markets through training and technical assistance in the areas of business management, and sustainable commercial and social practices’’
He has conducted virtual training on HACCP Food Safety to Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (CSAYN) members from Kenya, Cameroon, Zambia, South Africa. He has earlier (2008-2011) been a Quality management and quality assurance technical committee member of ISO/TC176 at Kenya’s ISo member body (KEBS), is responsible for developing the ISO 9000 family of standards.
He has authored a book on quality management systems (QMS) entitled ISO 9000 Secret: Unlocking World Markets, a concise guide for implementing quality management systems.
