In order to improve and certify the services provided to the people of Monterrey, the Municipality of Monterrey satisfactorily complied with the indicators of the ISO 18091:2014 Standard, based on the premises of the United Nations Local Agenda 21.
This was announced this morning at the end of the presentation of the Report on the Results of the Citizen Verification Process of the Citizen Observatory for Reliable Governments with a Focus on the aforementioned standard. Members of the Citizen Observatory informed Mayor Margarita Arellanes that the Government of Monterrey complies with all the indicators of this standard in a satisfactory manner.
At a press conference, Mayor Margarita Arellanes announced that this verification detected areas of opportunity to improve the service provided to the community, which will be addressed immediately and is part of the work being done for the city of Monterrey to become the first municipality to obtain this certification. “This has been an exercise of citizen participation, of democratic participation, but above all, it has been an extremely enriching exercise, in each of the public policies. They are delivering a document where certain recommendations are made and where we also find areas of opportunity.
“All the secretariats were evaluated and the most important thing is that this is not isolated or unique, but that there will be a permanent follow-up for the sake of the activity carried out by the Municipality of Monterrey to achieve the ISO 18091:2014 certification, which let’s remember that it will be the first public entity to have this certification because it is aimed exclusively for governments,” he explained.
The Integral Citizen Observatory (ICO) conducted from October 22 to 28 a verification process to review the performance of 276 sub-indicators that are part of Annex B of the ISO 18091:2014 Standard. This citizen verification process is part of the work being carried out to obtain international recognition as a Trustworthy Government, granted by the World Quality Council. The indicators are based on the premises of Local Agenda 21 of the United Nations Organization.
The Integral Citizen Observatory (ICO) is made up of representatives of business chambers, representatives of local universities and specialists in different topics. The processes of 12 agencies and 3 institutes of the Municipal Government were verified. The members of the Integral Citizen Observatory were accompanied by a representative of the World Quality Council. It will be at the beginning of 2015 when it will be announced if the city of Monterrey achieves this certification.
